Aglandau

One of the most important olive varieties in France, it originates from Haute-Provence and is also found in olive groves at altitudes above 600 metres above sea level. It is characterised by good resistance to cold. Self-fertile. It prefers slightly alkaline soils. Medium vigour. Late ripening. High resistance to fruit drop. Excellent workability in the mill due to its firm flesh. Also interesting as a table olive. Suitable for traditional plantings, not suitable for very high density plantings (over 1,000 trees/ha).

Phytosanitary aspects: sensitive to cycloconium (Spilocea oleagina), resistant to scab (Pseudomonas sevastanoi), sensitive to verticillium wilt (Verticillium dhaliae), tolerates olive fly (Bactrocea oleae) well.

Recommended planting density:

non-irrigated areas: 8x8m

medium density: 6x3m

high density (with irrigation): 4x2m
