Volpina pear seedlings selected at the D.C.A. in Bologna. It has an expanded root system with a scarce presence of capillitium, able however to guarantee an adequate anchorage of the plant to the soil. It does not require any particular type of soil and is also well adapted to calcareous soils (8-10% active limestone). It is tolerant to agrobacterium tumefaciens, but very sensitive to Erwinia amylovora. It has excellent affinity to all the most common cultivars.
