Tonda Giffoni


Tonda di Giffoni is an Italian variety of very ancient origin, grown in the province of Salerno (region of Naples) and it has relatively low chill requirements. This cultivar is very productive, instead nuts are quite large.
Tree: The tree is vigorous and with a semi-upright growth habit. High production.
Editor: Unpatented.
Flowering: Mid-season. Tonda Romana will be a good impollinator.
Maturation: Early ripening time.
Fruit: The medium sized nuts are round, brown with a distinct stripe and very pronounced grooves on the sides.
Taste: The kernels are round and may have light fibre. They blanch very well, with almost complete pellicle removal.
