Aronia Nero

Aronia (Aronia Melanocarpa) is a shrub that produces black berries used mainly in processing for juices and jams. The plant forms a semi-open bush, it can stand the cold and adapts to all types of soil. Aronia berries are rich in vitamin C and vitamin K; the antioxidant properties are particularly important: thanks to anthocyanins and polyphenols, aronia is in fact very useful in fighting free radicals, responsible for cellular aging.

Flowering:
Self-fertile. Very abundant white flowering during the spring period.
Maturation:
Quite slow, the fruits, in fact, are available for harvesting around the beginning of September.
Fruit:
Round, black berries the size of a blueberry.
Taste:
Rather sour taste for fresh consumption.
