Correggiolo

A variety from central Italy, widespread in Tuscany and Romagna. Similar to Frantoio. Does not tolerate cold and excessive humidity well. Self-incompatible, often associated with Frantoio and Pendolino to allow adequate fruit set. Medium vigour. Medium-late ripening period. Moderate resistance to detachment. Good workability in the mill. In Romagna, it is also used as a table olive. Not suitable for very high density plantings (over 1,000 trees/ha).
Phytosanitary aspects: Susceptible to cycloconium (Spilocea oleagina), susceptible to scab (Pseudomonas sevastanoi), susceptible to fly (Bactrocea oleae).
Recommended planting density:
non-irrigated areas: 8x8m
medium density: 6x3m
high density (with irrigation): 4x2m
