Maurino

One of the most important Italian oil varieties, particularly suited to central Italy, but now widespread worldwide. It does not tolerate cold well, but is resistant to summer drought. Self-fertile, but fruit set improves with pollinators. Medium vigour. Medium-late ripening period. Moderate resistance to detachment. Good workability in the mill. Not suitable for very high density plantings (over 1,000 trees/ha).
Phytosanitary aspects: Susceptible to cycloconium (Spilocea oleagina), susceptible to scab (Pseudomonas sevastanoi), susceptible to fly (Bactrocea oleae).
Recommended planting density:
non-irrigated areas: 8x8m
medium density: 6x3m
high density (with irrigation): 4x2m
