Cotogno EM C

Selection of Quince d'Angers from the East Malling Experiment Station (UK). It has a shallow, fascicled root system, hence poor anchorage and limited tolerance to thermal and water stress, requiring micro-irrigation. It prefers fertile and cool, non-droughty soils. Medium susceptible to Erwinia amylovora, susceptible to Agrobaterium tumefaciens, ‘pear decline’, virosis resistant to Eriosoma lanigerum and nematodes. Dwarfing (40% less than BA29), it gives exceptionally early and abundant production, especially in the first years of planting, but has some difficulty in maintaining these standards over the long term. Induces good fruit size and enhances fruit appearance and organoleptic qualities.
