Myrobalan Seedling

(P. Cerasifera)

Rootstock by seed, Myrobalan is still widely used although it had shown various drawbacks being a population of heterogeneous individuals: non-uniform plants, with disaffinity phenomena. Induces excellent vigor, especially for apricots. Slow entry into production, but this rootstock adapts to almost all types of soil: it reacts well in medium-clay soils, resists drought and limestone well. It produces thorny suckers.
